Call to Artists
First of all, thanks for clicking....Seriously
I'm pretty blunt and straight
to the point. A bit opinionated at times but strive to balance it all with
common sense and fairness.
I'm a good guy and I
appreciate good people. I appreciate art in all it's forms and most of the
people
who are involved with the
arts.
The
Internet is just great I think.
I love how it shrinks down the
world and how we can connect and learn about any subject we are
interested
in and meet people we would have never met without it.
But...
What about our own back yard? Our town, our
community...where we live... for real, flesh and blood interaction with
people who appreciate and are involved with what we are into.
The
ARTS
RIGHT
BRAINED
CREATIVE PEOPLE
The
Internet is a great tool for sharing information and networking. But
it doesn't do justice to most art forms because you can't capture the
experience of the painting or performance as well on a monitor and
speakers as you can by being there.
We (Christine
and I) were very frustrated driving beyond Port Angeles, the town
where I was born before color was invented... all the way to
Port Townsend's
Gallery-9
because there wasn't enough art galleries, shows, whatever, in Port
Angeles to let people see Christine's paintings.
The
first "Party at Grays" we went to showed us that a yearning for art
people getting together is alive and growing in Port Angeles. Bob
Stokes had a lot to do with this current growth.
The
synergy of like minded people to explode Port Angeles into more of an
art town is something we wanted to be part of so this site was born
out of that.
We want
to include anyone into any of the arts regardless of where you think
you fit in as far as being a so called "established artist" or
not...right here on this site as sort of a hub... to tell the world
about your art here on a page dedicated to you or, if you
prefer, a link to your website or perhaps
myspace pages.
That
way, we can be involved in the arts, not just as spectators, relying
on what the other sites are telling us about...we can create events
right here out of the networking we can do.
Imagine
a get-together art event that includes performing artists such as
dancers and musicians with displays by painters and sculptors and
other performing artists, hmmm. comedy? With the public invited to be
part of it all. We can do such things.
I highly
recommend myspace.com for those of you who want a lot of content, your own
blog and especially a place for larger music and video files to be
stored.
We will
have a search feature on this site after I get more artists involved
with this project.
So...please.
Send me
your stuff.
Thanks...
Joel
